The children are taught chronological understanding through placing people, events and change into the correct periods of time, using appropriate vocabulary. They develop knowledge of events, people and change through studying past cultures and ancient civilizations.
Children’s interpretation skills are developed through the use of pictures, films, reconstructions, displays and through examining evidence. They are encouraged to use ICT, books, and oral accounts as a means of asking and answering questions.
Children also learn to select and record information, which further develops their enquiry, communication and organisational skills.
