Report Comments

Thank you to all those who returned these at the end of last term. Staff take a long time writing the reports for you – we do like to hear what you think of them!

Parking

Remember the village hall car park is a private car park for hirers of the hall –school does not have permission to use it. Only parents with pupils also at the playgroup are allowed to park there. Church Lane is very narrow and not suitable for parking vehicles – please ensure you do not park on the pavements as this impedes our children walking to school.

Remember you are able to park in the pub car park –and avoid the hassle and worry of where to park!

Walk to School.

Are you interested in joining our “walking bus” – where you could drop your children at the pub and have them accompanied round to school by other parents? Or would you like to park and stride around, accompanying your own children? If so please complete the forms. Do you car share on the way to school? Would you be interested in doing so?

If you are interested complete the form enclosed or come and discuss it at the Parent Forum meeting in September.

Class Assemblies

Following the success of the Years 1 and 3 class assemblies last year, each class will hold an assembly at various stages through the year. Parents are invited to come and watch these events if their child is in the class. (Unfortunately space limits us and we cannot invite all parents to each!)

Music lessons

In school at the moment we are providing music lessons for a wide range of instruments. These include:

Violin, cello, guitar, drums, keyboard, flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder, brass and voice.

Last year all the children in Y3 learnt brass. This year the current year 3 are being given the opportunity to learn recorder and Y4 will continue with brass lessons. We do hope that these free lessons will inspire the children to go on to take up an instrument. Opportunity on any instrument, understanding the need to practice, and beginning to read music – even if it is not on their choice of instrument, will stand them in good stead for further musical activities.

We are currently looking for anyone (Y3-6) interested in taking up woodwind (clarinet, oboe, saxophone, flute) or strings (violin, cello, guitar) as we have space in our orchestra for children playing these instruments! Please see Miss McLaren.
