SCHOOL CLOSURES
Last year the area was hit by heavy snowfalls which caused problems on the roads. Any decision to close a school for whatever reason is taken by the Headteacher or senior member of staff in conjunction with the Chair of Governors. This decision will be taken by 8.20 am.
Could I ask that in the event of severe weather in the first instance you contact:
The Local Authority will advise the following organisations, who will update their lists of school closures.
· Radio – BBC Bristol FM - 94.9, 103.6, 104.6, AM - 1548 & DAB
website: bbc.co.uk/bristol
§ Television - BBC 1 (West)
Should the school remain open and it is considered that because of worsening weather conditions it should close earlier than the normal end of day, we will make every effort to contact parents/carers. No child will be sent home without parents, and a member of staff will remain at the school until all children have been safely collected. There will also be a member of staff in the office answering any phone calls, although I would ask for your patience as the telephone lines might well be busy.
Should you have any queries or concerns regarding school closures please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Christmas
I would like to thank all the staff for their hard-work over the term and for their great efforts with all the Christmas activities. I am very proud of the children, from Year R performing in their first Nativity, to Y1 and Y2 ‘Away in the Manger’ to all the junior classes, and groups of musicians, who performed so well at their carol service and Church service. I would also like to thank all those of you who have commented so positively about the pupils efforts and talents. Your comments are really appreciated, not only does it make staff redouble their efforts and feel valued but I am also making a note of them to pass onto Ofsted when they next visit us!
If our performances have inspired you, then you may wish to join the Village Carol Singing event on Monday 21st December, which starts at 6:30pm outside the school gates. All welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.
A final big thank you goes to our new PTFA committee for all their great efforts in organising a Christmas Bazaar in about 3 weeks and supporting at all our recent events. We raised a fantastic £600!
I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas (and maybe a white one?) and look forward to seeing you all in the new year. We return on Tuesday 5th January 2010.
