Week Commencing 18th May 2020
As it should have been sports day this week, we had our own mini version! It was a really great time and the children had a lot of fun. Even though there were only 9 children, it was fabulous to see them supporting each other and being kind to those who didn’t do so well – great team spirit.
Sports Day ended with a race between our very own Mr Rourke and Tristan – with a rematch as Mr Rourke won the first race by a whisker. Second race was a photo finish!

As we welcomed more children of keyworkers this week we also had an extra teacher in school so that we could split KS1/KS2 for the mornings in order to get through more of their learning. As in previous weeks we have come together in the afternoons for playing on the field and indoor crafts, playing etc. We have done some cooking this week – fairy cakes and mini pizzas, along with den building and a camp fire.
Week Commencing 4th May 2020
We have had a fantastic week celebrating and learning all about VE Day. Some very poignant moments as we saw some similarities between life during WW2 and our current situation in lockdown.
All children worked together to create a great front page for a newspaper – it really is a fantastic opportunity to work with people from different year groups. We rounded off the week with a celebratory campfire where we enjoyed all of the yummy treats we had been baking during the week!
Week Commencing 27th April 2020
We had had another lovely week in school this week! Every morning we have been having a dance class with Oti Mabuse on her YouTube channel – we have mastered a dance form Frozen, Trolls and Mary Poppins. It has been great fun, maybe your children will show you at home?
This week we have been focusing on being thankful; Whilst the weather was a little bit miserable we managed to keep ourselves enteretained inside by being very creative. Some of us wrote new lyrics for the worship song ‘Thank You Lord for this new day’ by thinking about what we are thankful and hopeful for at the moment. We also created a ‘keyworker superhero’ out of junk modelling. Hopefully it will always serve as a reminder of those who are keeping the country going during this strange time.
We sang Happy Birthday to Colonel Tom Moore, and observed a minutes silence to remember all those affected by Coronavirus. It has been a great week working with super children and adults whose resilience and flexibility during this has amazed us all! Fingers crossed for more good weather next week!
